Did you know?
In the 1880s, Alamo Placita Park began its first of many incarnations as a water park called The Chutes. Its star attractions were Professor Barnes’ herd of diving elk, who dove from platforms into water tanks, and local celebrity Sadie Boynton, who would daredevil down the chutes on a bicycle!
Advocacy
Historic Denver, Inc. is Denver’s primary membership-based preservation advocacy organization. We work with City Council members, property owners and other interested parties to ensure the preservation of fragile historic resources in the Denver area.
Advocacy takes many forms, and the issues are always changing. Recent advocacy efforts have included our work to raise awareness about the deterioration of the iconic 16th Street Mall to our efforts to protect preservation's most significant funding sources, the Colorado State Historical Fund.
